remember this little guy? | Decatur IL family photographer

This handsome little man stole my heart this past fall. And lucky me, we got to hang out again this morning.
And lucky me, his mom brought along another fun hat (and that tie?!). Love.

I’m not sure what it is, but there is something about Sunday mornings that just screams family time. Jammies, messy bed head, comfy covers, cartoons, and lots of snuggles. This family was kind enough to let me peek in on one of their Sunday mornings, what an honor.

Love this family. They let me dive deep into a style of photography that I have long used on my own family, but have been hesitant to bring out during client sessions. Thank you. Now, everyone hunker down and pray for no power outages after the inch or so of ice and 10+ inches of snow we’re supposed to get!

Well, my blog angel was watching me this morning I guess. The first version of this post just up and disappeared on me. Which might be a good thing because I was getting a little sappy
. I’m going to try and get through another one of these posts without tears. Didn’t work the first time, probably won’t work this time.
We miss these guys. A lot. None of us miss them more than sweet miss Hailey though. The move took us a quick 90 miutes away. She still asks almost daily if her best friend can come over to her house. And it breaks my heart to tell her not today day after day. She’s catching on though. Now when I say no, she sweetly says “oh…because she’s way far away, right?”
Ugh!
I love these four kids as if they were my own. Their mom is a better friend to me than she knows. I dearly miss living right across the street from them. I miss all those summer days when we would walk over to each others’ houses in flip flops, kids and water bottles in towe and get to sit and talk for hours while they played. I’m fairly certain Hailey thinks she’s a Miller kid who just gets to sleep at our house
.
Anyway…I need to stop. This session took place on one of the last useable fall days in November. Before we got 9″ of snow overnight. Oh, I can’t wait for spring!!
Mkay, let’s just stop here for a second and talk about this light!! These were just two quickies I snapped in the parking lot before we started. I should have gathered them all up right there and held the session between the cars. Why I didn’t? I have no clue. But isn’t that the most gorgeous light?

Wow…am I really posting summer sessions? This was indeed a busy fall! I am obsessed with this girl’s hair ~ how could I not be?

pumpkin patches in january | Springfield, IL family photographer

It’s totally cool to post pumpkin patch sessions in January! I can’t believe I’ve been too busy to show off all of my fabulous fall clients! Well, we’re finally getting a chance to settle in a bit. And I’m getting a chance to blow the dust off my computer and actually pay some attention to this little business of mine.
This family is one of my favorites. Actually, I think this happens with all of my Baby Cakes families. Since I see them once every few months, we get to know each other pretty well. To me, they are like family. One very crisp October morning we got together to share this little guy’s first pumpkin patch experience. It was chilly, but he was a trooper
. I think the smooch picture is one of my favorites of the year. What do you think?
Speaking of, keep your eye out for the 2nd annual Anastasia Marie Photography Photo of the Year contest!!

I do not recommend moving during the holidays. Life literally stops. Not cool.
I just wanted to pop in and let you know we’re still alive! And to tell you that it always turns out much, much better when you are willing to act like a goob at your photo shoot. Be silly, make some funny faces, and laugh
Just let it all go. You will be so much happier with the results
. Much love.
how did it get so late so soon? | Peoria Illinois Family Photographer

How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?
I’m a fan of Dr. Suess ~ his quotes are so true to life. This little family reminds me so much of my own. I look at the little sweety above and I see a toddler playing dress up. I know her parents look at her and still see their little baby girl. I am so so greatful and beyond honored to be able to freeze time for my families. When you have babies, it kinda feels like you’re Alice from Alice in Wonderland ~ falling down the rabbit hole, reaching out and trying to grab onto anything you can just to stop from falling. I feel like my camera is that thing I can grab onto. It can help me stop for just a second. How did it get so late so soon?
And because I am absolutely in love with every image from this session, the slideshow (just press play):
I was in Heaven | Washington, Illinois newborn photographer
Posted on November 10, 2010
I spent the morning with one of my favorite families. This time, as they welcomed a gorgeous little baby boy into their family. I’m going to go on record with this and say that this was the easiest newborn session to date. Little guy was sound asleep when I arrived and stayed that way throughout most of the entire 3 hour session. And I did not take it easy on him. He slept through all of my unswaddling and tucking and curling and re-swaddling. Even threw in a few diaper and clothing changes! I love this little boy

Sweet Kerry is waiting patiently for her gallery, so I thought I’d give her another sneak peek . Because I’m cool like that
. And if you’re really ambitious…check out what I’m doing tonight. You know you’re jealous.
