Holy moly. I need to move to California. Like, now. It was somewhere in the upper 90′s with 198% humidity yesterday morning as we began our session at grandma’s house. I looked like I’d just jumped out of the lake by the time we were done, but at least we laughed our way through it.

This little angel was the happiest, most wide awake baby during our entire session this morning. Her mom made a valiant effort to get her to sleep, but she obviously was having just too much fun hanging out with me. I can’t say I blame her ;) .

I have a question. Where the heck are all the girls?! I haven’t gotten to photograph a little girl (besides my own) in forever! Come on folks…I need a pink fix.

However, this little man is adorable enough to make up for it. To see these two grow into parents and fall completely in love with their brand new baby is the greatest honor. Love this little guy to pieces.

I mean…the things we do to these kids at my sessions…gee whiz. Had fun with you guys this morning. Thankfully, we evaded the snake.

This weekend I got the pleasure of meeting this little guy, only 8 days old. He has got the sweetest little face, I am so blessed to be able to work with these little angels. I was also fortunate to get to visit my sweet home Chicago for this session and spend some long overdue time with my best friends. I so enjoy heading up there (even for sessions!). Happy belated Mother’s Day to all of my Chicago mommy friends! Miss you guys.

I love newborn sessions. Probably my favorite. There are so many ways to approach a session, and you will get beautiful results out of every one of them. Lately I’ve found myself pushing away from those twisty newborn poses that are uber popular right now. The newness of a new family is something that only happens once. And anyone who has kiddos knows just how quickly that newborn time flies by. So I want to show the curly, twisty newness of the newborn, but I also want to preserve that time for my  newborn families. Those precious, precious  moments of dad trying to help a new big sister help her little brother for the first time, a new mom shhhhshing her sweet baby to sleep, feeding, change, diapers, tears (everyones ;) ), everything. That’s where my eyes are going at my recent sessions. I hope you enjoy.

I got to take a break from all the moving and holiday craziness the other day to photograph this sweet little girl. I am so honored to have been asked to photograph another member of this family. We’ve worked together several times and these guys have become good friends. I adore your entire family :) .

If you’ll notice, this little girl was photographed up in Morton, IL. Even though we’ve moved a bit south, I am still booking sessions in the Peoria area! I haven’t abandoned you guys completely ;) .

Happy Holidays all!

I spent the morning with one of my favorite families. This time, as they welcomed a gorgeous little baby boy into their family. I’m going to go on record with this and say that this was the easiest newborn session to date. Little guy was sound asleep when I arrived and stayed that way throughout most of the entire 3 hour session. And I did not take it easy on him. He slept through all of my unswaddling and tucking and curling and re-swaddling. Even threw in a few diaper and clothing changes! I love this little boy :) .

This past weekend I was getting ready to blog this little girl’s sneak peek from her 5 month session. After looking back, I could not believe I hadn’t posted more of her newborn session! Better late than never right?!
