Just a friendly reminder…I don’t think we do it nearly enough. Not much in life is worth being so serious over. There’s always room for laughter ;) .

The light last night was the kind that makes my heart happy. If only I had more Smarties ;) I could have shot so much more. Unfortunately, little miss here was working the bribes….and I ran out :/

This handsome little man stole my heart this past fall. And lucky me, we got to hang out again this morning.

And lucky me, his mom brought along another fun hat (and that tie?!). Love.

It was just a tad warm this morning (85 degrees at 8am…ugh). This little man is very considerate though, he cooled me off with his watering can ;) . And then we got popsicles. Can. not. believe he is 3. Happy birthday Tyler!

You might have noticed there’s been a little more time than usual between blog posts. While I hate being “quiet” on here…I hate the current state of our kitchen even more. So…as soon as everything gets back as it should be, we’ll get back to more frequent updates. Thanks folks!

Hailey has fallen in love with the iPod. To tell you we enjoy sitting around with her taking turns listening to music through the headphones would be a massive understatement. It is the most precious thing to watch her hold the headphones up to her ears and bop her head around to her favorite songs. And when she got up and started dancing around the house…well that was almost too much. We love you baby girl. xoxo

…but we pulled it off. On this shoot I was blessed with the presence of two toddlers (one of them being my own) and a 6 month old. Yay! Luckily, as  both a mom and a photographer I am always armed with juice boxes, golfish crackers and a vast array of random toys that will keep the craziest of toddlers busy. Add in grandma and we were good to go. I absolutely adore this little boy.

Cue the foreboding music…dun dun duuuuun. I’m going to write something here that is absolutely going to embarrass my daughter to no end in a few years. I’m sorry Hailey :) . So, let’s just say that jeans have become a big deal in our house. It’s to the point now where Justin can tell what kind of day we’ve had by whether Hailey is wearing a skirt or blue jeans. If you’ve spent any time at all with our daughter, you will be well aware of her obsession with skirts. She loves the colors, the twirliness, the comfy factor, and the girliness of skirts. I have to wrestle leggings on under the skirt when its 20 degrees outside an she just wants her skirt on. Blue jeans, on the other hand, are the devil’s clothes. I’ve never witnessed such an aversion to a single piece of clothing before in my life. It’s odd.

So. When our well potty-trained little girl started regressing and not doing so well, I implimented the worst consequence I could think of. Blue jeans. Have an accident? No more skirts. This worked like magic! We were consistent, no matter how much it broke our hearts to see her twirling spirit crushed when she put on the blue jeans. Who would have thought a simple pair of blue jeans could mean so much?!

The only downside? This child is learning reverse psychology. Seriously! Now when she has an oops, she says “nooooo skirts mommy, I like blue jeans!” with the sly-est little grin on her face. Little punk ;) . Love you, H.

The final installment of the workshop series. She was one of my favorite models of the day. I just had to step back and watch her be…my absolute favorite way to photograph.

When Hailey was born, Justin insisted we teach her to sleep on her own. We didn’t do any crazy ‘cry it out’ training or anything like that, we simply laid her down in her crib, she cried for a minute or so and then fell fast asleep. This was around 6 weeks old, and she was been an amazing sleeper ever since. I am so greatful for this in so many ways. But in a lot of ways I’m sad we don’t have a snuggly girl. She’s never been one to just fall asleep anywhere. She won’t fall asleep on the couch, she won’t fall asleep in our laps, she needs a bed and, of course, her pink ‘nigh-nigh’. This is why we were in complete and utter shock when she fell asleep in the middle of the airport. THE MIDDLE OF THE AIRPORT people!! We were on our way  home from our trip to Texas in October and some intense storms re-routed us to Colorado…for a fabulous 10 hours. With a 2 year old. Yeah. So around 1:00, I knew she was getting sleepy and ready for nap time, but where the heck was she going to sleep? So, we called on the magic of the pink nigh-nigh…and it worked! our little princess fell asleep for a good 2 hours. Someone was watching out for us that day, because things could have gone much worse.

So being that it is such a rare occassion for us to watch her sleep, and I had an insane amount of time to kill waiting for our flight, I decided to see just how many angles I could catch of our sleeping beauty. Overkill? Maybe :) .
