breaking the rules | Springfield IL newborn photographer

This little cutie was a tad bit older than my usual newborns. I tell my clients to hold their newborn session before the baby is 2 weeks old. That is considered the “golden” time in the photography world. So as I headed over to this 8 week old’s session…I was ready for anything. Usually past that 2 week window, babies aren’t as sleepy, aren’t as tolerant to us moving them all over creation, aren’t as “moldable” if you will. But he threw all those rules out the window. He’s got to be the most cooperative 8 week old ever. He slept for a little bit, woke up to see what we were doing, then went back to sleep…all the while as content and happy as could be. I truly, truly enjoyed photographing this family and could have stayed there all day.

I feel like this one a day needs some explanation. Has anyone seen the Disney move Tarzan? Well, that’s the new fave in our house lately. There are two parts that leave Hailey and I literally in tears laughing (don’t ask me why…you go a little nutty from watching so many kids movies after 3 years). One of these hysterical moments is when Jane is introducing herself to Tarzan and he is having a hard time understanding what she’s saying (you know, because he was raised by apes and all). He goes through the whole “me Tarzan” spiel and then Jane says “oh, I see” and Tarzan says “me Tarzan, you ohisee”. Then Jane says “no no no no no (clears her throat), I’m Jane”. So Hailey and I entertain each other by saying this back and forth. To see Hailey quote the movie…funniest thing ever. I got her to do it this morning for me so (hopefully) the pictures make a little more sense. She was in a goofy mood, but you get the idea.

This is Hailey trying to be serious, “daddy, get over here right now.”

“Okay, daddy please come over here?”

This was my first session walking around downtown Springfield. So much fun. I can’t wait to shoot there again. Bonus points if you can catch a little self portrait hidden in there

So, it has come to my attention that there are quite a few people following my blog who don’t have Facebook (weirdos
). I post (almost) daily One Frame A Day photos over on my Facebook fan page, so I figured I should probably start sharing here as well. I’ll try to catch you up with collage posts (like here, here, and here) soon. I started the project in January of this year, so I’ve got April-July to catch you up on. Today, let’s get you caught up on July, then I plan on posting daily just like on Facebook
.
