Sigh…would you believe it’s been so long since I blogged I *almost* forgot my password?! Oi. That’s what taking a vacation in October, selling a house, buying a house and doing the whole holiday thing…oh and being a photographer during this time…will do to you. Well, hopefully I’m back. I say hopefully becuase now that things are finally starting to calm down, we’re moving next week! So I can only guess that will throw me into a whole new kind of crazy.

During all this busy-ness, I still try to take a minute to stop and take everything in. The small details that can pass by so quietly, without being noticed, will seem so precious later on. So I’m borrowing an idea from one of my favorite wedding photogs…Jasmine Star. She’s a rockstar. She mentions a time or two that she insists on taking shots sometimes just because she doesn’t want to forget. That is so in line with the way I live my life, I thought it was a great title to this series. I’ve got tons and tons of little snaps. Not great photos. Sometimes not even great snapshots. Just what I got a chance to capture (usually with my phone) as the day went on. But I don’t care. They’re little blips of life that mean the world to me. And I’ve got them lying all over the place. So, since this is my blog and I can do what I want, I thought I’d share them on here. I’ve heard it said that photographer’s blogs should nothing but their best, perfect work on display. And for the most part I try to follow that rule. But these shots are perfect to me, and I hope to look back on this blog as some kind of diary or record of our lives. So :P to you if you don’t like it :) .

So without further adieu, So We Don’t Forget.

As I mentioned, we’ve been a little nutty around here lately. So the other weekend, we finally had a very rare Saturday at home. All three of us, at the same time. So I insisted on a mommy-daddy-Hailey-date-day. I think this needs to be a tradition. We so very much needed to spend the time together. We started the morning off with a stop at Justin’s office. Had to get the official offer signed and faxed on our new house (!) to continue the craziness. Hailey got a  kick out of seeing herself on the computer. Goof.

Then we went to kick off the holiday season with a trip to Build-A-Bear to get the most adorable little girl Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. By the way…did you know her name was Clarice? Honestly, if I would have known that before we bought her (and found out she says…in a very creepy voice….my name’s Clarice!) we probably would have gotten regular old Rudolph. I keep having flashbacks to Silence of the Lambs. Not a very cheery, Christmas-y thought, right? Anyway…she loved picking out her little reindeer and only had a minor major full blown tantrum because she desperately wanted the display reindeer, rather than the IDENTICAL one we had just gotten for her. Aahh the mind of a 2 year old.

She got to show off her new little friend the next day at Uncle Beeboo’s. Don’t ask about the scary look on her face. She’s 2. I take what I can get.

We ended the day with, if you can believe it, the first ever mommy-daddy-Hailey-movie night! We snuggled in with lots of pillows and blankets to watch Toy Story 3 and gorge ourselves on popcorn. Bliss.

How did it get so late so soon? It’s night before it’s afternoon. December is here before it’s June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?

I’m a fan of Dr. Suess ~ his quotes are so true to life. This little family reminds me so much of my own. I look at the little sweety above and I see a toddler playing dress up. I know her parents look at her and still see their little baby girl. I am so so greatful and beyond honored to be able to freeze time for my families. When you have babies, it kinda feels like you’re Alice from Alice in Wonderland ~ falling down the rabbit hole, reaching out and trying to grab onto anything you can just to stop from falling. I feel like my camera is that thing I can grab onto. It can help me stop for just a second. How did it get so late so soon?

And because I am absolutely in love with every image from this session, the slideshow (just press play):

I had no clue a two year old could have an actual best friend. But Hailey adores her Katelyn friend (as she says it :) ).  I truly think Hailey would gladly join her family if she could…as much as it breaks my heart to admit. But I love that she loves Katelyn so much. They adore each other. It’s pretty cool. What’s not cool? The fact that we’re going to have to separate them when we move :( . No worries…I’ll totally make the drive for them to hang out. Besides, Katelyn’s mom is pretty cool, so I guess I could hang out with her while they play ;) .

I spent the morning with one of my favorite families. This time, as they welcomed a gorgeous little baby boy into their family. I’m going to go on record with this and say that this was the easiest newborn session to date. Little guy was sound asleep when I arrived and stayed that way throughout most of the entire 3 hour session. And I did not take it easy on him. He slept through all of my unswaddling and tucking and curling and re-swaddling. Even threw in a few diaper and clothing changes! I love this little boy :) .

YAY! We have the blog back! Issues are resolved and I’ve got a ton of peeks to give out. Here’s one from my session on Sunday.

We had the absolute best weekend. Hurried as it was, we got to spend it with very cherished friends and family and wouldn’t have had it any other way. Hailey actually kept us out for about an hour of trick-or-treating this year…our first!! She was so thrilled with the whole idea of knocking on the door and people giving her candy. But I don’t know which one of us had a better time. I was in heaven :)

And as I’m going through the photos I took yesterday, I realized I have very few of the front of our little Tinkerbell :/. Oi…it’s been that kind of a month. So I added that one of her in her adorable gloves and hat before we headed out to our annual neighborhood Halloween bonfire. It was taken with my much loved point and shoot…don’t judge :) .

To all my clients waiting for their galleries…I’m working on them! With the move and the busy shooting schedule, proofing is taking just a tad longer than usual. But no worries, I will have them to all of you who are waiting shortly :) .

Much love,
Stacy
