what a weekend! {Peoria, Illinois senior photographer}
Posted on May 3, 2010
First of all, I’d like to introduce you to this handsome guy. Meet Andy. Andy took me for a crazy ride on Friday. We set out to do his senior pictures ~ over the river and through the woods (quite literally). But I loved it! The farm we went out to had the coooolest old barns and creeks…excuse me…cricks, I believe?
I’m still getting used to the lingo around here! Anyway…we were out and about enjoying the insanely windy day, exploring the land. I found an amazing barn wall that I just HAD to set Andy and his girlfriend in front of! For the photogs out there reading this ~ I’m pretty sure it was Holy Grail material. The coolest shade of red, gorgeous thick, twisty vines growing all over the wall, worn down just enough to look rough, but still soooo pretty. So Andy, being the gentleman he is, went first stomping down the tall grass and checking for snakes.
I’m going to stop right there and thank Andy again for going first here because they might have been hauling an ambulance over the river and through the woods to pick me up if I had gone first.
So there Andy is, stomping down the grass for us. And then we saw it. A massive brown animal flipping out (because Andy had just stepped on it!)…it was a turkey folks. A real, HUGE, ticked off turkey. That thing flew up in our faces and out of there faster than I could even think about what was going on. We jumped, we screamed, we ran away as fast as possible. I’m pretty sure I was crying.
The rest of our entourage was hanging out on the other side of the barn and only saw the bird fly and heard the screams. They might have taken a breath between the hysterical laughs to ask if we were okay
. But I’m not sure.
For real…A TURKEY!!! Does anyone know how big those things actually are?! Totally different from what’s sitting on my table at Thanksgiving. Here it is 2 days later and I still cannot get over it! Definitely the most exciting thing to happen to me at a session
.
And while we’re talking about exciting things happening. There’s a group of little punks who took out a good chunk of the mail boxes here in good old Germantown Hills last night. Can someone explain to me how that’s fun? We spent a good portion of the morning collecting bits and pieces of our old mail box, shopping for a new one and putting it in. While it made for some great neighborhood bonding…its so not cool.

That’s a funny story! Sorry about your mail box
Sounds like an exciting session! Entertaining, too; sorry I missed it. For the record, I’m SURE you were crying. However, I digress; based on this peak preview… the session must have been exceptional. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Wow, that sounds like quite the ordeal! I would be freaked out! Great shot my friend!
Oh he is handsome!
LoL. That is so funny. I was laughing out loud so much that my hubby asked what I was laughing about. I read your post and he found it JUST as funny. LOL.
